Restaurants, Bars, & Lounges
Planet Restaurant -
Dining with the stars is guaranteed at Cape Town’s most stylish restaurant, where crystal balls grace the entrance and the décor includes a galaxy-themed carpet, planetary chandelier and twinkling ceilings.
Matching the décor are Chef Rudi Liebenberg’s heavenly menus, journeys of gastronomic discovery featuring the freshest local ingredients.
Adventurous dishes for meat lovers include smoked crocodile and rooibos-cured ostrich or springbok; for fish fans there’s Namibian red crab or pan-fried salmon trout, and vegetarian options might include roasted butternut ravioli.
Planet Bar - Cool, chic, yet timelessly elegant, Planet Bar throngs all year round with well-heeled Capetonians sipping sundowner cocktails or pre-dinner champagne.
The bar’s stylish celestial décor, quirky touches and comfy couches create a relaxing ambience, whether you’re people-watching from the terrace in the summer or curling up by the fire with a glass of red in the winter.
Planet Bar offers an extensive cocktail menu, a wide selection of champagnes and wines, and an assortment of light menus and canapés.
Oasis Restaurant - A sunny terrace overlooking the pool provides a bright and lively setting for a relaxed breakfast or lunch.
Start the day with a selection of seasonal fruit, just-pressed juices, homemade muesli, oven-fresh breads and pastries, and your choice of hot breakfast favorites. Come lunchtime, cafe-style sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and classic light meals are the order of the day.
Chef's Table - The Chef’s Table is a custom-designed, interactive culinary experience featuring the Mount Nelson’s finest cuisine and wines.
Guests are seated at an oak table in an alcove of the hotel kitchen, complete with an oversized mirror affording a perfect view of the chefs at work. The experience is presided over by the Mount Nelson’s Executive Chef Rudi Liebenberg and his team. Guests are able to watch the chefs prepare specific dishes and to discuss the recipe and the inspiration behind them.
The Chef’s Table is available for reservations seven days a week, for lunch and dinner, and caters for six to 10 people. Menus are designed on the day according to Chef Rudi’s choice of fresh seasonal and local ingredients.
