As a Relais & Chateaux property, Matakauri Lodge offers a unique dining experience in a luxurious setting. Head Chef Jonathan Roger’s modern New Zealand cuisine is focused on showcasing local seasonal produce with clean, fresh flavors in an a la carte menu that changes daily.

Choose from a variety of dining spaces, including the Library, Dining Room, Remarkables Patio, Courtyard and Lounge, private dining can be arranged upon request. 

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is served from 7.00am to 10:30am in the dining room and features a buffet of local and imported fruits, Home-made pastries, cereals and yoghurts. Additionally an A la Carte selection of cooked items. 

LUNCH

Lunch is served from 12.00pm to 3:30pm. There are a variety of sandwiches, salads and desserts to choose from. 

PICNICS 
 
They offer a choice of picnic lunches from an activity pack, simple boxed lunch or a delicious picnic hamper. 

PRE DINNER DRINKS

Pre dinner drinks commence at 6:00pm and is an excellent time to meet fellow guests. Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and a wide range of wines, beer and spirits are served nightly in the lounge. 

DINNER

Dinner is served from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. The dinner menu changes nightly and features the finest New Zealand produce. Wine and bottled water served with dinner are not included in the daily tariff.

If you would like to dine privately, there are a variety of areas of the lodge that provide this unique experience.

Spectacularly situated on Lake Wakatipu, Matakauri Lodge offers stunning views from every angle of the Remarkable, Cecil and Walter Peak mountain ranges. Just seven minutes from Queenstown, Matakauri Lodge will provide an alpine lakeside retreat nestled in one of the world’s most serenely beautiful landscapes.

The Lodge and adjoining villas, originally constructed in 2000 with a contemporary New Zealand design, reopened in August 2010 after undergoing extensive refurbishment and new interior design by acclaimed New Zealand Interior Designer, Virginia Fisher.

The main lodge consists of spacious lounge, dining and living areas, all with views of Lake Wakatipu. The lodge also offers a range of indoor and outdoor dining options for our guests, including superb private dining options. An elegant meeting space with a business center offering abundant natural light and views of the mountain ranges beyond.

Facilities include a full service luxury spa, swimming pool with spa and a fully equipped fitness center.

The Lodge offers accommodation in eleven luxurious guest suites, with eight outlying cottages and three suites located in the main lodge. Every suite offers its own private porch, bedroom with sitting area and open fireplace, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. The suites are nestled in a native forest overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the mountain panorama.

The Queenstown region presents a wide range of fun activities for children and families.

They welcome families at Matakauri and can easily arrange an experienced babysitter/nanny to accompany your children to one of the many activities available. The staff are well-equipped to ensure that your children's stay at the boutique lodge is as enjoyable as your own.

Lodge Room - Located on the upper level of the main lodge, the lodge room offers an interconnecting option with a Deluxe Suite. 1 room - 36 sq m / 387 sq ft 

Suites - Superbly situated along the lakefront and just a short walk from the main lodge, these spacious suites offer their own private balconies overlooking Lake Wakatipu. 2 outlying - 72.8 sq m / 783.6 sq ft

Deluxe Suites - These, the largest suites, have commanding views of Lake Wakatipu and the glorious snow-capped mountains. The two suites in the main lodge offer the convenience of proximity to lodge facilities. 6 outlying and 2 within the main lodge - sq m/sq ft on application as individual suite sizes vary.
